In January 2025, the new Portuguese Classification of Economic Activities (CAE Rev.4) will enter into force, replacing the current version (CAE Rev.3).

All companies will be required to reclassify their primary and secondary business activities to ensure compliance with the new codes.

To facilitate this process, Statistics Portugal (INE) has made available the IRCAE, a survey that enables companies to confirm or update their CAE classification in accordance with the new version. Companies need only access the IRCAE platform and select the codes that best correspond to their business activities.

Upon submission, Statistics Portugal (INE) will automatically update the company's classification in the records of the Portuguese Tax and Customs Authority, the Institute of Registries and Notaries, and its own information systems. The deadline for completing this reclassification is the end of November 2024.
